Shingle Creek Golf Club
Orlando, FL

by Dave Johnson

“Eat, drink and be merry” was the theme that permeated every nook and cranny of Shingle Creek, similar to the ghosts of Christmas, past, present and future. This newly opened magnificent layout will test golfers of all levels, either playing the tips at 7,213 yards or the shorter (but not necessarily easier) forward to mid-forward tees of 5,081 yards to 6,314 yards of pure enjoyment. There are actually five sets of tees to choose from.

The exceptionally friendly golf staff just reeked of excitement and enthusiasm as if being proud parents eagerly waiting to show off their brand new baby.

Rosemary Johnson and Dave Johnson at Shingle Creek Golf Club in Orlando, FloridaTo describe each hole would take too long, so my best advice is seeing (experiencing) is believing. The golf carts offer state of the art GPS tracking devices that measure each hole, literally (and accurately) from start to finish. The environmentally friendly course incorporates interconnecting waterways, with an aesthetic quality provided by a natural background of oak and pine trees alongside its historic Shingle Creek that intersperses throughout the magnificent property. Along with its undulating fairways, the best feature was the ease at which to easily locate any errant ball that may have lost its way due to “faulty equipment,” and not necessarily a bad golf swing (I wish).

In the next few years, this stellar property will be further complimented by an ambitious undertaking by Harris Rosen, to open a 1500 room resort adjacent to Shingle Creek Resort and Golf Club.

Right now, Shingle Creek already offers custom group and corporate events, complimentary valet parking, if needed, club and shoe rental, plus an ideal, state of the art practice facility.

From 250,000 square feet of dedicated meeting and conference space to a 95,000 square feet column-free ballroom, other team building recreational activities will be offered such as rock climbing, birding (no, not the golf course type), canoeing, mountain bike riding, tennis, water aerobic and fitness classes, all designed to provide that one degree of separation to provide (almost too much) non-stop entertainment. Or, you can do nothing at all. The choice is up to you.

If all this isn’t enough, bear in mind the following tidbits: you are only 10 minutes from Orlando International Airport, one mile from Sea World, five minutes from Universal Studio, and just 10 minutes from the Walt Disney World Resort area.

If the future is anything like the present, then definitely, everything is coming up “Rosen.”
