Paa Ko Ridge Golf Club
Westward Ho!
That's the name of the first hole. So it's a warning that you best be armed with the right gear and read the yardage guide to scout out your strategy for each hole.
We started off the day with brisk winds making it about a 32° wind-chill factor. While the guys went to the driving range, I bundled up and sipped hot chocolate in the grill to warm up.
After losing a ball or two right in front of the tee box, I decided to play "gourmet golf" as one of my partners described it. But, after the sun warmed me up, I was able to play a better round of golf, hitting my tee ball a little further.
One of my favorite holes was hole #8, par 3, with a large drop between the tee and green.
Paa Ko Ridge had a lot more trees and grass than the other courses and reminded me more of my home courses, except for all of the carryovers on most every hole. At 5,702 yards, this was the longest course I played in New Mexico.
Paa Ko Ridge Golf Club has received many awards and recognition from the top magazines and leaders in the golf industry. From Athlon Sports (18 Holes You Need to Play, Hole #11) to Zagat Survey's (America's Top Golf Courses, Rated Extraordinary) there's 27 reasons (holes) to add this course to the gems of golf courses.
Whether you are an ace golfer or a gourmet golfer like me, don't miss playing this course. If there was a show "Golf gone wild!" this would be at the top of the list.
For a hole by hole description, see "Course Layout."
